Masters of Aalto exhibition: communicating via design
At Textklinik, we work with communication every day. We want every text we deliver to communicate successfully and have the effect the client intended. Communication also plays a major role at Aalto University in Helsinki. New design approaches are taught and developed that help make design a part of our daily communication. The highlight of the academic year is the Masters of Aalto exhibition, where students present their masters’ projects. If you’re in Helsinki during the MoA, you really shouldn’t miss this unusual exhibition. Here, the designers of tomorrow showcase some unusual ideas, from sustainable furniture to new audio-visual concepts and even toilets for Uganda. In 2012, the year of the WDC, the bar is set particularly high, and the exhibition includes speakers who examine the subjects presented at the MoA in greater depth. The different ways in which design is used to communicate are very impressive. Each exhibit, from the inspiring fashion of Germany’s Linda Förstner to paintings, architecture, apps and a new motorboat design, tells its own story. If you want to see some of the unusual directions design can take, check out the exhibition. This year it runs until 3 June, and next year’s MoA exhibition will doubtless also be worth a visit.
