Adieu, les vacances
The summer holidays are behind us – days of relaxation that offer the chance to just kick back, put your feet up and enjoy. Some people went abroad, spending their well-earned time off in exciting new locations. The sunloungers – once so hotly contested – are vacant, and the formerly packed streets in popular tourist towns are suddenly somewhat more peaceful. The high season is over for the year in those places, but at advertising agencies, it’s only just beginning. There is a lot to be done during the last quarter of the year, from drafting concepts for customer magazines and brochures to designing websites and campaigns to finally launching those campaigns: everything has to be planned down to the tiniest detail. Annual and quarterly reports have to be drawn up, conference invitations need to be written and mailed, and yearbooks must be prepared for printing. So it’s no wonder that agencies are working flat out: after all, these jobs aren’t the only things they have to take care of – not by a long shot. The upcoming trade fairs are just one example; informative, flawless flyers are needed to ensure that they are a success. Here at Textklinik, we also have our hands full, and we love throwing ourselves into our work. The question as to whether we’re tired, or if we need rest and relaxation, isn’t really an issue for us. How did Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach put it? ‘It’s not the work we do that makes us tired, it’s the work we don’t do.’
